Stingray

Stingray (2006) is a playful romantic comedy short centered on Kurt, a struggling writer whose latest pitch has just been rejected—again. Frustrated and desperate for a reset, he heads to a neighborhood aquatic pet shop for a new fish. Instead, he finds something unexpected: a beautiful young woman browsing the tanks and a snarky stingray who seems to know more about Kurt’s love life than he does. Voiced brilliantly by Andy Serkis, the stingray becomes an unlikely commentator as Kurt tries (and hilariously fails) to ask the woman out. Funny, heartfelt, and wonderfully weird, Stingray celebrates the messy magic of conversation, creativity, and taking risks—even when the words don’t come out right.
