Somewhere Between New York and LA is a documentary about outsider filmmaking and quiet obsession. It follows Blake Eckard, a self-taught director from Stanberry, Missouri (population 1,186), who has written and directed six feature-length films since the age of eighteen. Made with no budget, minimal resources, and endless determination, his films exist far from the industry spotlight.

Through memories, observations, and reflection, the documentary explores a parallel film world shaped by catalogs, VHS culture, and cult cinema. It is a portrait of an artist whose entire being is cinema — even if the world has yet to notice.
