Death of a Shadow (Dood van een Schaduw) is a 2012 Belgian short film directed by Tom Van Avermaet. This fantasy-drama follows Nathan Rijckx (played by Matthias Schoenaerts), a World War I soldier who dies in battle but is trapped in a mysterious limbo. A strange collector (Peter Van den Eede) gives Nathan a second chance at life in exchange for capturing the shadows of the dying. As Nathan nears completing his task, he dreams of reuniting with Sarah (Laura Verlinden), the woman who once showed him kindness. However, he soon faces a heartbreaking choice between love and redemption.
